Montelukast Protects Against Renal Damage Due to Cadmium Toxicity: In vivo and In vitro Experiments

نویسندگان

چکیده

Background: The protective effects of Montelukast (Mont), as an anti-inflammatory drug, against cadmium-induced kidney cell damage have already been studied and identified. Since the significant part cadmium nephrotoxicity is caused by oxidative stress, this in vivo vitro study was conducted to investigate possible role antioxidant properties protection. Methods: In section, 42 rats were treated seven groups six follows: Control; Cadmium Chloride (CdCl2) control; CdCl2 plus treatment; with pre-treatment; Vitamin E treatment. human embryonic cells (HEK293) CdCl2; Montelukast; Combined E; E. Results: Montelukast, both treatment pretreatment forms, reduced serum urea, creatinine, potassium levels compared group, vivo. Similar vitamin E, pre-treatment associated a decrease Nitric Oxide (NO) Total Antioxidant Capacity (TAC) renal tissue, increase Glutathione Peroxidase (GPX) activity those group. section study, significantly Malondialdehyde (MDA) NO while TAC level, Superoxide Dismutase (SOD), GPX increased significantly. Conclusion: Overall, appear play prominent preventing toxicity due exposure.

Tangeretin protects renal tubular epithelial cells against experimental cisplatin toxicity

Objective(s): Cisplatin is an effective antineoplastic agent; its clinical utility, however, is limited by a few salient toxic side effects like nephrotoxicity. This study aimed to determine the potential protective effects of tangeretin, a citrus-derived flavonoid, against renal tubular cell injury in cisplatin-induced renal toxicity of rats.Materials and Methods: Tangeretin was injected intra...

Salicylic Acid Protects Photosynthesis against Cadmium Toxicity in Pea Plants

In the present study we have investigated the possible mediatory role of salicylic acid (SA) in protecting photosynthesis against cadmium (Cd) toxicity. The exposure of pea plants to increasing Cd concentrations (0.5, 1.0, 2.0 and 5.0 µM) during early stages of their establishment caused a gradual decrease in shoot and root fresh weight accumulation, the rate of CO 2 fixation and the activity o...

A novel free radical scavenger, edarabone, protects against cisplatin-induced acute renal damage in vitro and in vivo.

Accumulating evidence suggests that enhanced peroxidative damage caused by reactive oxygen species (ROS) may contribute to the pathogenesis of cisplatin-induced acute renal failure. Nevertheless, little is known about the involvement of oxygen radicals in cisplatin nephropathy. In this study, we investigated the effects of a novel free radical scavenger, 3-methyl-1-phenyl-pyrazolin-5-one (MCI-1...

Green Tea Protects Testes against Atrazine-induced Toxicity in Rat

Background: Atrazine (ATZ) is a common herbicide in agriculture for control of grass and broad-leaved weeds. It persists in the environment and causes reproductive problems in both human and animals. The present study was aimed at protective effect of green tea against ATZ toxicity in the reproductive system of male rats. Methods: The present study was performed in Veterinary School, Shahid ...

Edaravone, a free radical scavenger, protects against retinal damage in vitro and in vivo.

Edaravone (3-methyl-1-phenyl-2-pyrazolin-5-one), a free radical scavenger, is used for the treatment of acute cerebral infarction. In this study, we investigated whether edaravone is neuroprotective against retinal damage. In vitro, we used a radical-scavenging capacity assay using reactive oxygen species-sensitive probes to investigate the effects of edaravone on H(2)O(2), superoxide anion (O(...
